Juan Luis Cintron Garcia, a 39-year-old tow truck driver from Orlando, Florida, was shot and killed on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in the Taft neighborhood. The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on 8th Ave., where Garcia was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Garcia was described by family and friends as a friendly and kind individual, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.
He was known for his helpful nature, often assisting his neighbors with tasks such as pulling back their garbage cans. His death has left the community in shock, with neighbors expressing fear and concern since the suspect or suspects were still at large at the time of the incident.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office has been investigating Garcia's murder, and evidence suggests that it may be connected to the kidnapping and murder of Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas, a 31-year-old woman from Homestead, Florida. Guerrero De Aguasvivas was carjacked and killed the day after Garcia's murder. A key piece of evidence linking the two cases is a green Acura that was involved in both incidents. The Acura had been towed by Garcia from an apartment complex in Orange County on March 19 for being illegally parked.
Authorities believe Garcia's shooting was a targeted attack. Multiple rounds were fired at the scene, including 10mm rounds, which match the ammunition used in the carjacking and murder of Guerrero De Aguasvivas. The investigation has led to the identification of several suspects, including Jordan Torres-Garcia, who is in custody and linked to both crimes. Torres-Garcia is alleged to have been one of the armed men who shot Garcia, and he also participated in the carjacking and murder of Guerrero De Aguasvivas. Another suspect, Giovany Joel Crespo Hernandez, is still being sought by law enforcement.
The carjacking of Guerrero De Aguasvivas involved Torres-Garcia and other suspects, including Ocasio Justiniano and Dereck Rodriguez Bonilla. According to federal documents, Torres-Garcia admitted to carjacking Guerrero De Aguasvivas and holding her at gunpoint during a drive to Kissimmee, where her body was eventually found. Rodriguez Bonilla was indicted for providing the 10mm firearm used in both murders.
The ongoing investigation involves collaboration between the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office to bring all perpetrators to justice.
