On Sunday, May 19, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred at North Jetty Park in Nokomis, Florida, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Octavius Cornelius Lee Cummings Jr. The incident happened around 7:16 p.m. when Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported shooting at the park, located at 100 Casey Key Rd. Upon arrival, they found Cummings' lifeless body.
