On June 13, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Deerfield Beach, Florida, resulting in the deaths of Marrina Guadagnino, 23, and her infant son, Andre Lanns III. The events unfolded early in the morning when Andre Lanns, 27, the father of the infant and Guadagnino's boyfriend, fatally shot both victims.
Lanns called 911 around 5:45 a.m., requesting help in a muffled voice, stating he had shot himself. During the call, a baby could be heard crying in the background, followed by the sound of two gunshots before the call disconnected. Shortly after, a neighbor called 911 to report a bleeding man holding a gun at her front door, and another person reported a similar encounter with the same individual near his vehicle.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Lanns bleeding profusely from the mouth and covered in blood. He was sitting in the driveway of a home with a gun pointed at his head and ignored the deputies' commands to drop the weapon. At one point, Lanns ran towards the deputies, telling them to "shoot him." He was eventually detained and transported to Broward Health North for treatment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the lower part of his chin.
Later that morning, around 8:22 a.m., an AC repair man flagged down deputies after noticing blood on the door and pathway leading to the home where he was responding to a service call. Deputies entered the home and discovered Marrina Guadagnino dead on the bed in the master bedroom, having been shot multiple times. The infant, Andre Lanns III, was found dead in the bassinet next to the bed with gunshot wounds to the right side of his head and his abdomen.
Lanns and Guadagnino had recently moved into the home just a week prior and were both veterans of the U.S. Army. Lanns had been discharged from the army recently, and the couple had been together for about three years. As of the latest reports, the motive for the double shooting remains unclear.
Andre Lanns was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and was initially listed in critical condition due to his self-inflicted injuries. He was not appearing in the jail online database as he was still hospitalized at the time of the reports.
