On July 4, 2024, a series of shootings occurred in Orange County, Florida, resulting in the deaths of two men, including 27-year-old Eduardo Soto. The first shooting happened around 2:07 p.m. on the 5200 block of Sailfish Street, where deputies found a man, later identified as Jose Carrasquillo, 45, who had been shot and later died at the hospital.
Minutes later, at approximately 2:20 p.m., deputies responded to another shooting on the 2700 block of Appaloosa Road.
Here, they found Eduardo Soto, who had also been shot and was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives believe that these two shootings are related and have identified a suspect. Leandro Correa, 48, was arrested and is currently being held in the Orange County Jail on a first-degree murder charge related to the death of Jose Carrasquillo. Additional charges are pending in connection with Eduardo Soto's death. The motive in the Jose Carrasquillo case is linked to narcotics, but further details on the motive for Soto's shooting have not been released.
Correa is being held without bond, and the authorities have assured that there is no ongoing threat to the community following his arrest. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives continuing to develop the charges related to Eduardo Soto's case.
