Marco Antonio Rubi Escobar, the suspected owner of a brothel in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, was killed on the night of September 5, 2024. The incident occurred at a home on Melaleuca Lane, which was identified by neighbors and authorities as a brothel or prostitution location.
The investigation revealed that three individuals were involved in the murder. These include Spencer Privert, Anthony Jennings, and a 14-year-old boy. The suspects were arrested and charged with first-degree murder, burglary while armed, and aggravated battery with a firearm. The 14-year-old boy was charged as an adult.
On the night of the murder, surveillance footage showed a Chrysler 300 pulling up to the brothel with multiple people inside. Three individuals, including the 14-year-old boy, were seen exiting the car. The boy was observed carrying a handgun and a phone, and he approached the brothel while on the phone. He then entered the residence, and about a minute later, the two other men, one carrying a Draco-style rifle, followed him. Approximately 10 minutes after the boy entered, he was seen running from the residence as the two men entered. Shortly after, the two men were seen fleeing the scene in their car.
Witness accounts and surveillance footage corroborated the events. A 23-year-old man, who was inside the brothel at the time of the shooting, reported seeing a young Hispanic man enter the residence, followed by the victim yelling "NO, NO, NO," and then hearing gunshots. He fled the scene after the shooting. Neighbors also reported seeing two black males outside the home, one armed with a handgun, and a white Toyota that was gone after the gunshots.
The suspects were identified through various means, including a woman who rented the car allegedly used by the suspects. She revealed that "Spence," later identified as Spencer Privert, was her drug dealer and that she had known him for seven months. She also mentioned that the 14-year-old boy often hung out with Privert and another man.
Upon searching the residence, authorities found evidence of a brothel, including three bedrooms with only beds, numerous used condoms in garbage bags, and multiple bullet cartridge casings from a Draco-style pistol. The victim, Marco Rubi Escobar, was found dead on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds and spent shell casings surrounding him.
The investigation led to the arrest of Spencer Privert, who was booked into the Palm Beach County jail, and Anthony Jennings, who was taken into custody in Hillsborough County. The 14-year-old boy had been arrested previously and confessed to his part in the homicide during a post-Miranda interview with detectives.
