On November 10, 2024, a tragic home invasion occurred in the Vero Beach Highlands neighborhood in Indian River County, Florida, resulting in the deaths of Amanda Baker, 68, and her granddaughter, Shelby Lynn Baker, 19. The incident took place at approximately 3:45 a.m. at a residence in the 600 block of 23rd Place Southwest. Both Amanda and Shelby were pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, and tragically, Shelby's unborn child also died as a result of the shooting.
