In the late summer evening of September 9, 2024, the life of 27-year-old Krystal Kae Alston, a Black female, was tragically cut short on a street in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Just after 8 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire on Seaview Avenue and discovered Alston deceased in the road, a victim of what would be investigated as a domestic violence homicide.
An autopsy later confirmed she died from gunshot wounds to her head and torso.
The investigation quickly zeroed in on Ricardo Robinson, the father of Alston's infant daughter. Authorities issued a public alert, describing him as armed and dangerous. The search for Robinson, however, came to a somber end the following morning when he was found deceased in a cemetery in the neighboring town of Stratford. His death was the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. With Robinson's death, police announced that there were no outstanding suspects in Alston's murder.
Court records revealed a troubled and abusive history between Alston and Robinson. In June of the previous year, Alston had sought and been granted a temporary no-contact order against him. In her application for relief from abuse, she detailed a "toxic abusive relationship" that had spanned several years, including physical violence that once resulted in a broken nose. She wrote of his constant threats when she attempted to end the relationship. Despite the temporary order, Alston requested the matter be dismissed at a hearing the following month. Family and friends remembered Alston, a University of Connecticut graduate, as a vibrant individual and a loving mother.
