On a late Thursday evening in Pueblo, Colorado, the life of 28-year-old Christopher Jordan Salazar was cut short by gunfire. On September 21, 2023, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2200 block of East 4th Street just after 11 p.m. Upon their arrival, they found Salazar on the ground, having sustained what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
The Pueblo County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene, later confirming that he died from his injuries.
The investigation into the death of the young man, a husband and father, quickly led authorities to a person of interest. This individual was already in custody on unrelated charges. On September 29, 2023, the Pueblo Police Department made an arrest in the case, taking 29-year-old Steven Anthony Vigil into custody without incident. Vigil was subsequently booked into the Pueblo County Jail on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.
Remembered as an amazing son, brother, uncle, husband, and daddy, Christopher was a business owner dedicated to supporting his family. His greatest desire was to spend time with his loved ones, creating precious memories. Known for his protective and giving nature, he was always ready to help people in any way he could. He found joy in cruising in his lowrider and listening to music, and he was known for a great sense of humor and a smile that could light up a room.
