On June 21, 2024, Shirley Kay Taylor, who was 63 years old at the time of her death, lost her life in a mass shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas. Taylor, born on July 1, 1961, to Jim and Shirley Wooten, was a resident of Fordyce and was known for her kind and hardworking nature. She was described by her daughter, Angela Atchley, as a great person who would do anything for anybody and was particularly fond of cooking and putting her family first.
