In a quiet Spanish Fork, Utah neighborhood, the lives of Timothy Parker, a 58-year-old Caucasian male, and his wife, Jeannie Parker, 50, came to a tragic end in March of 2023. Concerns arose on March 14 when Timothy, a man known for his reliability, failed to show up for work for a couple of days. A worried co-worker requested a welfare check at their home on South 2250 East.
When Spanish Fork police officers arrived at the residence, they found no answer at the door.
Gaining entry through an unlocked window, they made a grim discovery in a basement bedroom: the bodies of Timothy and Jeannie Parker, partially concealed by a blanket. Both had been shot to death. The scene inside the house was one of disarray, with numerous guns, pill bottles, and holes in the walls. Investigators believe the couple was killed sometime after Timothy was last seen leaving work on the afternoon of March 11. Adding to the tragedy, it was later found that Timothy's forearm had been burned after he died, and he was still in the clothes he wore when he left his job.
Suspicion quickly fell upon Jeannie's son and Timothy's stepson, 26-year-old Tryston Robert Erickson, who also lived at the home. Co-workers of Timothy told police that he had been in the process of evicting his stepson. As police began their investigation, they noticed that Jeannie Parker's car and cellphone were missing from the residence.
By pinging Jeannie's phone, detectives traced its location to the area of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Authorities in Grand County, Colorado, were alerted and soon located the missing vehicle. When deputies attempted to pull the car over, Erickson led them on a chase before being taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, he was found with a handgun in his waistband and two more in the car. Spanish Fork detectives traveled to Colorado to question Erickson, who was initially held on charges related to the pursuit. He was later charged with two counts of aggravated murder in connection with the deaths of his mother and stepfather. Further investigation of Erickson's phone revealed photographs of the deceased couple taken on the evening of March 12.
