On a warm August evening in Hurricane, Utah, a night of karaoke at the Eagles Lodge turned into a scene of tragedy, ending the life of Sean Michael Moore, a 41-year-old White/Caucasian male. The events of August 4, 2023, unfolded after an altercation with another patron, forever altering the lives of many in the small community.
Sean, a beloved husband, father of three girls, and a coach for the Hurricane Hustle softball team, was enjoying an evening out when he was killed.
Remembered for his big heart and larger-than-life personality, he was known as a 'people coach' who lifted up others. His world revolved around his wife, Gretchen, and their three daughters, Ashlynne, Izzy, and Ana.
That Friday night, another man at the lodge, identified as 55-year-old Bryan Edwin Hill, was reportedly acting belligerent and his anger was escalating. Witnesses stated that Sean intervened to de-escalate the situation by removing Hill from the establishment. Surveillance footage later showed Sean pushing Hill out of the door. Shortly after being outside, Hill allegedly pulled a firearm from his waistband and fired at least one shot at Sean, who immediately fell backward. Hill was then seen motioning towards Sean as he lay on the ground. Sean Michael Moore died from his injuries at the scene.
After fleeing the lodge, Bryan Edwin Hill was located by police at his residence early the next morning. A SWAT team assisted in his arrest, and he was taken into custody without incident. During his interview with police, Hill showed signs of impairment and gave inconsistent accounts of the night's events, changing his story multiple times even after being shown the surveillance video. He was subsequently booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility on multiple charges, including murder.
