On the evening of August 10, 2024, Marcus L. Johnson, a 28-year-old Black male from Omaha, Nebraska, was fatally shot in Pacific Junction, Iowa. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the I-29 Speedway, just as an outdoor concert was scheduled to begin.
Law enforcement from the Mills County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 8:59 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that Johnson and another man, 27-year-old Charles A.
Williams Jr., also of Omaha, had been shot and killed.
The investigation into the double homicide is ongoing, with the Mills County Sheriff's Office receiving assistance from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Omaha Police Department. Authorities have not released information regarding any potential suspects or arrests in connection with the shooting.
