In the chaotic environment of a southern Arizona prison, a life was tragically cut short. On the night of March 1, 2018, 32-year-old Adam J. Coppa, a male inmate at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Yuma in San Luis, sustained fatal injuries during a large-scale riot. The disturbance reportedly began when an inmate, who appeared to be under the influence, was being escorted across the recreation yard and attempted to assault the officers.
