In August of 2016, a sense of unease led to the discovery of a tragedy in a Chandler, Arizona, home. Steve Hogarth, a 44-year-old Caucasian male, was found deceased inside his residence on August 25th. Friends had become concerned when they were unable to reach him, prompting a request for a welfare check. When Chandler police officers arrived, they found Hogarth had been the victim of a homicide, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation into the death of the Floresville
High School graduate quickly focused on someone he knew. Detectives identified Nick Sublasky, an acquaintance of Hogarth's, as a person of interest. As investigators delved into the circumstances surrounding the killing, evidence was uncovered that implicated Sublasky in not only the murder but also in attempts to conceal his involvement.
The evidence against Sublasky led to his arrest and he was subsequently charged in connection with Hogarth's death. Rather than proceed to a full trial, Sublasky entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to serious charges, including second-degree murder and evidence tampering. In November 2018, a judge formally sentenced Nick Sublasky to a term of 25 years in prison for his role in the death of Steve Hogarth, bringing a close to the legal chapter of the case.
