In the late hours of January 3, 2019, 23-year-old Black / African American female Shiann Peace was shot inside an apartment complex near the intersection of South Rural Road and East Broadway Road in Tempe, Arizona. Responding officers were called to the scene after reports of gunfire and found her suffering from life-threatening injuries; she was discovered at a residence on South Granada Drive and rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
