In the summer of 2021, a bright young life was tragically cut short in Phoenix, Arizona. Valerie Loya-Arreola, a 15-year-old Hispanic female, was fatally shot on Saturday, August 7, 2021. The incident was not an act of random violence, but a devastating accident that occurred within her own family circle.
The person responsible for the fatal shooting was identified as Alexis Vidrio, a 21-year-old relative of the victim. At the time of the incident, Vidrio was reportedly cleaning his gun.
Believing the firearm to be unloaded after removing the magazine, he inadvertently caused the weapon to discharge, striking and killing Valerie.
Following the tragic event, law enforcement authorities arrested Alexis Vidrio. He was subsequently charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of his young cousin.
