In the early morning hours of Friday, April 1, 2022, tragedy struck outside of a north Phoenix hookah lounge, leaving a young man's life cut short. Zyion Parker, a 21-year-old male, was fatally shot as he was leaving the establishment located in the area of 15440 N. 35th Avenue. The incident occurred around 12:57 a.m., a time when the night was shattered by the sound of gunfire from unknown individuals.
Phoenix police officers were dispatched to the scene near 35th Avenue and Waltann
after receiving reports of shots fired. Upon their arrival, they discovered Parker suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The hookah lounge, identified as Alomda Hookah, became the center of a homicide investigation as detectives began to piece together the events of that fatal morning.
The investigation into Parker's death remains active and ongoing. Authorities have released a description of a suspect, described as a Black male who is approximately 6 feet tall. Law enforcement has urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and contact the Phoenix Police Department. To encourage tips from the community, a reward of up to $2,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest in the case. At this time, no arrests have been publicly announced.
