On May 1, 2022, Maria Guadalupe Godinez Ramirez, a 28-year-old mother of two, was fatally shot in Apache Junction, Arizona. The incident occurred after Ramirez had finished her job and was heading home. Her ex-boyfriend, Ulises A. Cruz Peraza, 34, had been following her, and she noticed this as she attempted to seek help at a nearby store. Despite her efforts, Peraza ambushed her, shooting her multiple times near the intersection of Old West Highway and Colt Road.
