On July 28, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in a central Phoenix neighborhood. The incident took place near the intersection of Roosevelt and Patricio streets, just after 2:00 a.m. When officers responded to the scene, they found 21-year-old John Purper suffering from a gunshot wound. Witnesses reported that the victim was shot by someone driving by in a vehicle.
