On that Monday morning, the Knox County Sheriff's Office and local Verdigre Police responded to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered Linda, who was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was scheduled to be conducted by the Douglas County Coroner's physicians to determine the precise cause of death. In connection with the shooting, law enforcement took 66-year-old Phillip Privett into custody. Authorities stated that there were no other suspects in the case.
Linda was born on October 5, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts. In her earlier years in Boston, she worked as a hairdresser. After relocating to Fremont, Nebraska, she was known to have worked doing demonstrations at a local grocery store. She was a mother to a son and two daughters and a grandmother to several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Funeral services were held in Fremont, with her burial taking place at Memorial Cemetery.
