James "Jim" Edward Baxter, a 58-year-old resident of Trenton, Nebraska, tragically lost his life on April 27, 2016, in a murder-suicide incident. Baxter, born on February 27, 1958, in McCook to Richard L. and Leona E. (Potthoff) Baxter, was fatally shot by 49-year-old Robert Lawing, who subsequently took his own life using the same stolen handgun.
