On a tragic day in early autumn, the life of 33-year-old Asian female Mei Huang was cut short. On September 6, 2017, in the parking lot of the Law Enforcement Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska, a place meant to represent safety and justice, Huang was shot by her husband. She was rushed to a hospital in nearby Sioux City, but succumbed to her injuries hours later.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting saw the arrest of Huang's 41-year-old husband, Bei Sheng Chen.
He was swiftly charged in connection with his wife's death. The charges brought against him were severe, including first-degree murder, first-degree domestic assault, and the use of a firearm to commit a felony, painting a grim picture of the final moments of Mei Huang's life.
