Oriana Arcos, 23, a White/Caucasian female, was killed on May 28, 2019, in Norfolk, Nebraska, inside a Country Club Road apartment where police had been called that morning to check on her safety after reports she was being held against her will. Officers made verbal contact at the door with her boyfriend, 23-year-old Marquise Edwards, who refused to let them in and claimed the resident wasn t home.
Using a key to enter, officers reached a locked bedroom, heard two gunshots, and then forced entry. Arcos was found mortally wounded and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was pregnant at the time.
Edwards was also found with a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital, where he died. Police determined the incident to be a murder-suicide. Local and regional outlets reported that officers had responded to domestic-disturbance calls at the same address in the days leading up to the shooting, and that Arcos had been reported as being held against her will on the morning of the attack. The apartment was listed at 1406 Country Club Road.
No arrests were made. Edwards was identified by authorities as the sole suspect, and with his death there was no continuing search for additional suspects. Community remembrances and memorial notices later identified Arcos by name and age and noted that her unborn son died with her.
