On July 14, 2003, Maurice "Moe Dob" Dobson, aged 41, was shot and killed in the Unit block of Atlantic Street, Southeast, Washington, D.C. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. when police responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Maurice Dobson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. Dobson was inside his apartment, located at 22 Atlantic Street, SE, at the time of the attack.
