In the early afternoon of a spring day in Washington, D.C., Nathaniel David Brooks, a 32-year-old African-American man, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 12:55 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2015, in the 3400 block of 22nd Street, SE. Emergency services responded to reports of a shooting and found Brooks suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
