On the night of June 1, 2024, Delaware State Police responded to a reported shooting at a residence on the 13000 block of South Old State Road in Ellendale. Upon arrival, officers discovered 27-year-old Brian Halliday in the front yard with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Halliday was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
