On June 9, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a confrontation erupted near the Ellendale Community Center on North Old State Road in Ellendale, Delaware. During the altercation, an unidentified individual discharged a firearm into the assembled crowd, striking 17-year-old Ahniya Coverdale of Harrington and a 19-year-old male.
