In the autumn of 2005, a grim discovery was made along the Maine Turnpike in York. On October 15th, the body of 32-year-old Asian male, Dung Ngo of Dorchester, Massachusetts, was found, bringing a violent end to a search that had begun weeks earlier. investigation into Ngo's death led authorities to three suspects. In January of 2006, three men were taken into custody and charged with the murder of Dung Ngo: Huy Van Nguyen, 33; Nhan Truong, 37; and Son Nguyen, 37. The motive behind the killing appeared to be a dispute over money. Investigators learned that Huy Van Nguyen had given Ngo $1,800 to purchase crack cocaine in Massachusetts. They forced him into a vehicle and drove him north to a wooded area off the Maine Turnpike in York. There, with premeditation, Huy Van Nguyen and Son Nguyen led Ngo into the woods and shot him, leaving his body to be discovered weeks later.
The wheels of justice turned, and Huy Van Nguyen stood trial for his role in the murder. He was subsequently convicted of intentional or knowing murder. The court sentenced him to a term of forty-five years in prison. An appeal of his conviction was later denied, with the court upholding the jury's verdict.
