In February 2012, the life of 31-year-old Jerry Perdomo, a Black male firefighter and married father from Florida, came to a tragic end in the quiet state of Maine. Perdomo had traveled from his home in a rental car, ostensibly to visit friends. However, the real reason for his journey was far more dangerous. He was there to collect a $3,000 debt from a 24-year-old man named Daniel Porter. This debt was connected to drug activity, a secret life that would ultimately lead to his demise.
