On a tragic day in Saco, Maine, the life of 35-year-old Caucasian female Heather Smith was cut short on July 26, 2014. Her death was the result of a horrific murder-suicide orchestrated by her 33-year-old husband, Joel Smith. The devastating event, which also claimed the lives of their three children, unfolded within the walls of their apartment and has been described as one of the worst cases of domestic violence in the state's history.
