On August 13, 2019, Allen Curtis, 25, and Roger Ellis, 51, both residents of Castle Hill, Maine, were found fatally shot inside Ellis' red 2007 Chevrolet Silverado along Route 227. Initially responding to a report of a suspicious noise, Maine State Police discovered the two men deceased in the vehicle, which had collided with an unregistered ATV abandoned at the scene.
