On July 29, 2017, in Bozeman, Montana, 31-year-old Danielle Heninger was fatally shot by her husband, 40-year-old Zach Heninger, who then took his own life. Zach, a 12-year veteran of the Bozeman Police Department and a Marine Corps veteran, was off duty at the time. Authorities responded to reports of gunshots at the couple's residence around 11:30 p.m. and discovered both individuals with gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, both were pronounced dead at the hospital.
