In the summer of 2018, the life of 21-year-old Olivia Serrano was tragically cut short in what investigators have described as a murder-suicide. On the morning of July 16, 2018, police were dispatched to a residence in Helena, Montana, where they discovered the bodies of Serrano and 26-year-old Richard Ferris. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Authorities believe that Ferris shot and killed Serrano before turning the weapon on himself.
The two were known to be acquaintances, but further details about the nature of their relationship and the circumstances leading up to the fatal incident have not been publicly released.
Following the discovery, the bodies of both Serrano and Ferris were transported to the state crime lab in Missoula for autopsy. The investigation concluded that Ferris was the sole perpetrator in Serrano's death, and with him also being deceased, the case was closed. There were no other suspects, and no arrests were made in connection with the case.
