In the early morning hours of December 17, 2019, the life of Steve Mitchell Hale, a 61-year-old White/Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in Great Falls, Montana. Hale was one of three victims in a fatal shooting that unfolded at the Emerald City Casino.
The incident prompted an immediate law enforcement response. Authorities quickly identified Ricky Lee Gardipee as the suspect behind the triple homicide. Gardipee, who had a lengthy criminal record, became the subject of a manhunt.
Later that same day, U.S. Marshals located him. A confrontation ensued, resulting in Gardipee being killed by the officers.
While the primary suspect was deceased, the investigation continued, leading to further arrests. Two other individuals were implicated in connection with the case. Amanda Lynn Gilbreath faced charges of obstruction of justice for allegedly harboring Gardipee. Johnny Komeotis was charged with evidence tampering and resisting arrest. The motive for the deadly shooting was not definitively established, though initial beliefs suggested it may have been related to a robbery.
