On February 28, 2024, Quaid Fluckiger, a 24-year-old White male, was found unresponsive in a residence on Chicago Road near Shepherd, Montana. Yellowstone County deputies were dispatched to the home around 3 p.m. for a report of a sick or injured person. Upon their arrival, they discovered Fluckiger and attempted CPR, but he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Initially, authorities were told by 22-year-old Kennedy Aigner that Fluckiger had overdosed. However, the investigation soon shifted as the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head. This led to Aigner's arrest in connection with what was now being investigated as a homicide.
It was revealed that Aigner and Fluckiger resided at the Shepherd home together.
During the course of the investigation, Aigner admitted to shooting Fluckiger during an argument. She was subsequently charged with deliberate homicide. In exchange for a guilty plea to the deliberate homicide charge, other charges against her were dropped. Aigner was sentenced to 55 years in the Montana Women's Prison for the death of Quaid Fluckiger.
