On January 6, 1996, 72-year-old Dalma Fuhriman and her husband, William "Duke" Fuhriman, were murdered in their home near Downey, Idaho. James H. Hairston and his companion, Richard Klipfel, traveling from Grand Junction, Colorado, to Spokane, Washington, stopped at the Fuhriman residence seeking assistance.
