On October 22, 2020, in Bellevue, Idaho, 34-year-old Ashley Midby was fatally shot by her boyfriend, 28-year-old Jared Murphy, a former Hailey police officer. The incident occurred in an office adjacent to the Coffee Corner, the café where Midby worked as a manager. After shooting Midby, Murphy took his own life, resulting in a murder-suicide.
