In the quiet town of Bedford, New Hampshire, a heart-wrenching discovery was made on Saturday, March 28, 2015. Eight-year-old White female, Katherine Obukhov, was found deceased in her home on McAfee Farm Road. The tranquil facade of the suburban neighborhood was shattered by the events that unfolded within the walls of the Obukhov residence. Katherine, along with her younger sister, 6-year-old Elizabeth, fell victim to a tragic act of violence that also claimed the life of their mother.
On that Saturday morning, Alexi Obukhov arrived at the family home to oversee repairs to the septic system. He had recently moved out of the residence. When he entered the house, he was met with a devastating scene. In one of the children's bedrooms, he found his wife, 34-year-old Nina Obukhov, and their daughter Elizabeth, both dead from gunshot wounds. In another bedroom, he discovered Katherine, also deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. A deeply distressed Alexi immediately called 911, exclaiming, "She killed my kids!".

The investigation revealed a history of domestic turmoil, including a previous domestic disturbance call to the residence in 2013. In the wake of the devastating event, no criminal charges were filed as the perpetrator, Nina Obukhov, was deceased. The community was left to mourn the loss of two young girls, whose lives were cut short in an incomprehensible act. Counselors were brought in to Riddle Brook Elementary School, where the girls were students, to help their friends and classmates cope with the tragedy.
