On March 29, 2019, Alisa Mayo, a 41-year-old Caucasian female from Hollis, New Hampshire, was found deceased in a residence in what was determined to be a murder-suicide. Responding to a request for a welfare check at a home on Deer Run Drive, Hollis police discovered the bodies of Mayo and 51-year-old Brian McDonough. The New Hampshire Attorney General's office took over the investigation into the two deaths.
Subsequent autopsies confirmed the tragic nature of the events.
The Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Jennie V. Duval, determined that Alisa Mayo's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, and her death was ruled a homicide. Brian McDonough also died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide. Investigators concluded that McDonough shot and killed Mayo before taking his own life.
Authorities reported that Mayo and McDonough were known to each other, although the specific nature of their relationship was not publicly detailed. With the perpetrator deceased, the investigation did not lead to any arrests as McDonough was identified as the sole suspect in Mayo's murder. The investigation concluded that there was no ongoing threat to the public. Alisa Mayo was a mother and a graduate of Hollis Brookline High School.
