On April 11, 2019, 19-year-old Aaliyah Jacobs, a female, was found deceased in a residence on Plain Road in Hinsdale, New Hampshire. Alongside her was the body of 29-year-old Neal Bolster. Both individuals were victims of homicide, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The discovery was made by Hinsdale Police officers who were conducting a welfare check at the home.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly led authorities to identify a suspect, 28-year-old Derrick Shippee of
Vernon, Vermont. The day after the bodies of Jacobs and Bolster were found, the New Hampshire State Police issued arrest warrants for Shippee, charging him with two counts of second-degree murder. However, later that same afternoon, Shippee was discovered deceased in Vernon, Vermont. An autopsy determined that the cause of his death was an accidental drug overdose.
Aaliyah was born on July 14, 1999, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and was raised and educated in Brattleboro, Vermont. At the time of her death, she was employed as an elderly caregiver. Known for her friendly and outgoing personality, she enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. Following the death of the sole suspect, Derrick Shippee, the investigation into the murders of Aaliyah Jacobs and Neal Bolster was closed by the New Hampshire Department of Justice.
