On May 24, 2023, in Johnston, Rhode Island, 44-year-old Thomas "TJ" May was fatally shot by his neighbor, 52-year-old James Harrison. The incident occurred at May's residence on Ligian Court, where his 15-year-old daughter was also shot and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The previous night, May had reported to police that Harrison was attempting to peer into his daughter's bedroom window using a ladder.
