In the late summer of 2022, the life of Joseph Standing Bear, a 29-year-old Native American man from Norris, South Dakota, was tragically cut short. On August 20th, he and another man, 37-year-old Petan Milk of Rapid City, were discovered deceased in the 100 block of Surfwood Drive in Rapid City. Both men were victims of gun violence in what authorities would investigate as a double homicide.
