On February 26, 2019, 58-year-old Deborah Ann Garner Steplock was fatally shot in her Casper, Wyoming home. Her son, Andrew Wayne Steplock, was arrested in connection with the incident. Authorities reported that Andrew broke into his parents' residence with the intent to steal and, upon being confronted by his mother, shot her in the head. Deborah was kept on life support for two days to facilitate organ donation, fulfilling her wish to help others even in death.
