On June 25, 2016, 55-year-old Scott Craig Nelson was found deceased on railroad tracks in Leeds, North Dakota. Initial reports suggested a train-pedestrian accident; however, upon investigation, authorities determined that Nelson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Benson County Sheriff's Department, and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene.
