Marianito Alavazo Jr., a 24-year-old man, died after a gunshot incident on October 5, 2015, on Molokai, in the Kaluakoi area near Kaunakakai. Public reports described it not as a street crime or an ambush, but as a sudden and devastating accident that unfolded while he was with two friends. What began as an ordinary afternoon on the island turned fatal in a matter of moments, leaving emergency responders rushing to the scene after a 911 call came in shortly before 4 p.m.
