In the early morning hours of Saturday, May 21, 2022, Puna Patrol officers responded to a report of a man shot at the intersection of Nānāwale Boulevard and Seaview Road in Nānāwale Estates, Puna District, Hawaii. Upon arrival, they found the victim, later identified as 36-year-old Junio Resun, lying lifeless in the intersection, surrounded by family members. Resun was transported to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:55 a.m.
