Andrew Marvin Mulder, a 35-year-old man, died in Elmore County, Alabama, on January 26, 1917, after a gunfight that ended his life in the line of duty. He was serving as acting sheriff when he went to arrest a man who had shut himself inside a house and refused to come out.
