In the late summer of 1925, a dispute over progress in Dallas County, Alabama, turned deadly, claiming the life of a dedicated public servant. Sheriff Lawrence Percy Dawson, a 56-year-old male, was killed in the line of duty on August 26th. The tragic event unfolded two miles from Selma, at the home of a local farmer who was at odds with the Alabama Power Company.
