Sheriff Lawrence Percy Dawson, a 56-year-old law enforcement officer, was fatally shot on August 26, 1925, while serving with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office in Alabama. The incident occurred when Sheriff Dawson, accompanied by three of his deputies, attempted to resolve a dispute between a local farmer and the Alabama Power Company.
