In the summer of 1983, a dedicated public servant's life was tragically cut short in Irondale, Alabama. Sergeant Rex Wright Winchester, a 54-year-old Caucasian male, had devoted fifteen years of his life to the Irondale Police Department, earning the respect of his colleagues and the community he swore to protect. On the evening of July 12th, he responded to what would be his final call, a report of a disturbance involving an intoxicated individual at a residence on Vetavia Street.
