Ashley Black, a 21-year-old African-American woman from Washington, D.C., was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 21, 2007, in front of 901 21st Street NE. Around 3:30 a.m., gunfire broke the quiet of the residential block, and when officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived, they found her critically wounded outside the address.
